a reddish purple to lightbrown to blackbrown material with lively grain and occasional streaks of cream sapwood.  originating from forests of southwestern brazil and bolivia, this material is also known as pau ferro and does not belong to the endangered dalbergia genus.  skram finishes the material with shellac sealer coats followed by multiple clear topcoats of commercial grade, non-toxic polyurethane.  the finish is full-fill and the sheen is flat.
